The presentation that you make on your driving range with your driving range equipment will make a big statement about your facility to your current members as well as their guests who could be future members of your facility. There are some obvious pieces of practice facility equipment that you will need and with some forethought and not much extra money you can really upgrade the look and feel of your practice facility experience with just a few benches, tee dividers and a water stand.
Driving Range Equipment - Range Picker
Every single range lives and breathes with the operation of their range cart and their range picker. If either piece of equipment goes down, then everyone is in scramble mode. The correct size of your range picker will be determined by the volume of activity that your practice facility will do. Most facilities need a five or seven gang unit to be the most efficient with their employee’s time and make provide enough balls to satisfy the volume the practice facility is doing.
Driving Range Equipment – Golf Ball Washer
The golf ball washer is important for multiple reasons. Obviously, it provides a better product and presentation to your members and guests to use. In addition, your range balls will have a longer life to them with proper care.
Driving Range Equipment – Bag Stands
Bag stands are another silent statement that you will be making to your members and guests. Range bag stands should match the feel of the club and club house and are made for many, many different materials.
Driving Range Equipment – Range Baskets or Range Bags
If you do not already provide range balls on the practice facility, you will need to either use range baskets or range bags to distribute the range balls to your members and/or guests. Again, you will be making a silent statement with the product that you decide to use and how well it is maintained. Using range bags do have an option that range baskets do not have in that they can be logoed. Either way, you will want to have some larger range baskets or teaching baskets for your staff to transport the range balls.
Driving Range Equipment - Golf Mat
Golf mats have made big strides in the last few years. Many commercial golf mats now have removable hitting areas that can be replaced. This allows you to provide a good surface to your members and guests without the need to replace the entire mat. Range mats now also offer hitting areas to simulate the fairway or the rough!
Driving Range Equipment - Range Ball Stackers
It is first thing in the morning and you walk out and see the entire range lined with perfect pyramids. It is a great look. When using stackers, also known as pyramids, it seems to work better in conjunction with a range tray as part of the setup as well. This way your staff can keep filling the trays and the players will be less likely to disrupt the perfect pyramids. This is not as labor intensive and will not need to devote an employee to the stackers.
Driving Range Equipment - Tee Dividers
Tee dividers will give organization to your range tee. Depending on the type of range divider that you decide to use they can also be used for a branding opportunity with the facilities logo on them.
Driving Range Equipment - Outdoor Benches
Many facilities use outdoor furniture such as outdoor benches to upgrade thier practice facility. This type of outdoor seating will give your memebers and guests a place to rest during their practice session, look great and can even be logoed with your facility's logo.
Driving Range Equipment - Water Station
Many operators look past at how this simple amenity can improve the practice facility experience at their facility. Water stations come in many different shapes and sizes and I have actually had my employees build them before. So they do not need to be expensive. A well kept water station with a trash receptacle, shoe brush and a bench for seating will quickly upgrade your facility.
