Collecting Golf Art

I have found a hobby in collecting golf art. I would like to hear what you think about the growth of collecting golf art, using it to decorate and recommend an artist that I may not know. I look forward to the new information.

Golf art is becoming more and more popular for artist to paint as well as for golfers to collect. I am sure some people will try to contribute the growing popularity to Tiger Woods however, golf art including golf prints have come into its own. With the detail that Linda Hartough and Diane Selby are able to paint with, you literally feel like you are there without closing your eyes. Collecting golf art can not only look good in your home or office but it can also be a good investment.

Whether you are looking to decorate a room in your house or your office, photos of male and female Tour pros, abstracts as well as painted landscapes of memorable golf courses are all popular. By using golf art, you can show some of your personality into your home or office.
Collectible golf art comes in many different forms. They would include autographed portraits and photographs, limited edition golf prints, lithographs and giclees. In addition, artist proofs are available for each. An artist proof is an extra drawing the artist does which elevates the value of the piece of art.

My favorite golf artist is Linda Hartough. A framed golf print by Linda Hartough makes a thoughtful Christmas gift, retirement gift, anniversary gift, a birthday gift or a thank you gift to an important client. Golf prints are not just for men, either. The number of ladies playing the great game of golf is growing every year. They are buying more golf equipment, golf fashion and are more open than ever to purchasing golf art.

3 Tips To Decorate Your Office At Home Or Work

Decorating your work office or home office is a great way to show people a little bit about you as well as make yourself more comfortable while you work. Here are three office decorating tips that you can use to develop your golf themed office.

1. Whether you are ready to start the office decorating at home or at work, use color. I am not saying that you need to go crazy with wild colors but the last thing you want is to be surrounded by boring white walls. Many studies have been done that prove that the color of a room can change your attitude. Casinos and retail stores use this tactic every single day to get you into a mood that will benefit them. Choose colors that make you happy. If they are a little "wild" for some other people, you can always re-paint later. It is good to use two colors that complement each other and then you can base the other décor in the room around those colors.

2. Depending on how much freedom that you have at work or if you are decorating your home office, you can still have an office with a view, literally any view. With a wall mural painted on a wall you can look at your favorite skyline, your favorite beach or even your favorite stadium. Then you can have your favorite view right from your office chair.

3. If decorating your home office, create your own art gallery by adding an art collection to your walls. This may allow you to collect different art that your spouse may not care to place in main living areas of the house. If you are a golfer you could include golf prints by artists such as Linda Hartough. You could either collect her work at Augusta National or collect all of her work done on the US Open golf courses. Maybe you are a race fan and want to collect some work of Sam Bass. You can always carry the theme of your house into your home office.

Linda Hartough

The painting talent of Linda Hartough has taken Golf Art to new places over the past few decades. Beginning her career as a landscape painter, she has recreated some of the world’s most beautiful holes. What sets a Linda Hartough painting apart from any other artist is the attention to detail that is found in every piece of her work.

Linda Hartough fell in love with art at the age of six and went on to receive a degree from the Art Institute of Chicago. She then made her living by selling her paintings in the Chicago area. In 1980, Hartough moved near Hilton Head South Carolina where she was able to paint landscapes, portraits and horses.

Linda Hartough’s “big break” to paint golf landscapes came in 1984 as Augusta National commissioned her to paint the 13th hole. By 1988 and a great response at the PGA Show, Linda made the decision that solely painting golf courses would be her focus.

Since making the decision to turn her work towards painting golf landscapes, her status in the golf world has shot up like a rocket. She is the only artist ever commissioned by the United States Golf Association and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews to do the annual, official paintings and prints for the U.S. Open and British Open Championships. Hartough has also been the recipient of the “Lifetime Achievement Award” given by Golf Digest and is a Founding Trustee of the Academy of Golf Art. The Academy of Golf Art is a professional society of golf artists that was established in 2004. The golf of the group is to create an awareness and appreciation of golf art as a segment of fine art.

Linda's approach to capturing a great golf hole is by spending a week or more at each course, taking photographs at different times of the day to capture all possible lights. She then figures out what is important or memorable in each view of a hole and makes sure this is included in the painting. Her memory serves as a less objective image of the hole. The combination of the two provides the unique view found in each of her paintings.

Office Decorating With A Golf Theme

I want to decorate my home office. I am a huge golfer and fan of Tour Players as well as different golf courses across the US. Can you give me some office decorating ideas that would help me put together a plan that would make my wife happy as well as myself?

Not knowing your wife, we will not promise you anything with her. Here are some office decorating ideas that you can ponder to come up with your golf themed office:

1. Whether you are ready to start the office decorating at home or at work, use color. I am not saying that you need to go crazy with wild colors but the last thing you want is to be surrounded by boring white walls. Many studies have been done that prove that the color of a room can change your attitude. Casinos and retail stores use this tactic every single day to get you into a mood hat will benefit them. Choose colors that make you happy. If they are a little "wild" for some other people, you can always re-paint later. It is good to use two colors that compliment each other and then you can base the other décor in the room around those colors.
2. Place plants in various places around the room to give you the feeling of green as if you are on the golf course. There are many plants available that do not need much attention and will live through many things. If you are anything like me, this is very important as not everyone has a green thumb. With office decorating, you can pick a plant theme by plant or by color. There is nothing wrong with going with a theme of something you like.
3. Depending on how much freedom that you have with your wife while decorating your home office, you can still have an office with a view, literally any view. With a wall mural painted on a wall you can look at your favorite skyline, your favorite beach or even your favorite stadium. Then you can have your favorite view right from your office chair.
4. If decorating your home office, create your own art gallery by adding an art collection to your walls. This way of office decorating may allow you to collect different art that your spouse may not care to place in main living areas of the house. If you are a golfer you could include golf prints by artists such as Linda Hartough. You could either collect her work at Augusta National or collect all of her work done on the US Open golf courses. Maybe you are a race fan and want to collect some work of Sam Bass. You can always carry the decorating theme of your house into your home office.
5. Many people are office decorating with a theme to resemble a favorite resort or spa that that they have visited. Do you have a favorite resort or spa? Decorate your office like the resort you went to in Miami or Los Angeles. You can use any place that gives you great memories. This can make you more relaxed and more productive and relieve a lot of stress.

Good Luck with your office decorating and your wife!

Us Open at Torrey Pines by Linda Hartough

Linda Hartough has recreated some of the world's most beautiful golf holes since focusing on painting landscapes. Linda Hartough has become recognized as one of golf's leading artists. The attention to detail that Linda puts into every picture is so relaistic that her oil paintings seem to come alive. Her work will make you feel like you are actually there.

Hartough began her golf landscape carrer when she was commissioned to paint the 13th hole at Augusta National in Augusta Georgia in 1984. Hartough has solely focused on golf landscapes since 1988, after a large response to her work at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida.

Since 1988 Linda Hartough's work has gained international fame. She is the only artist ever commissioned by the United States Golf Association and the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews to do the annual, official golf paintings and golf prints for the U.S. Open and British Open Championships. She has painted prestigious golf courses from the U.S. to Scotland to Hong Kong.
Her paintings are so admired that they have earned a place on two ABC Television Golf Specials on famous golf holes hosted by Jack Nicklaus. Her paintings are in the collections of such famous clubs as Augusta National, Pine Valley and Laurel Valley. Hartough originals are also included in the private collections of Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones and Rees Jones.

This highly detailed golf print is done by celebrated American golf landscape artist Linda Hartough. As she usually does, Linda Hartough masterfully depicts this breathtaking par-3 hole at Torrey Pines revealing the beautiful, dramatic canyons, the Pacific Ocean and the city of La Jolla, California. The panoramic sunset view from the elevated third tee marks Hartough's 19th commemorative painting for the U.S. Open Championship series. This golf print comes in Limited Edition Prints as well as Prints with an Artist Proof.
