Golf Training Device

I am interested in improving my game and in particular my putting. I would like to find a putting golf training device that will work for me. Unfortunately I do not know where to begin. Can I have your help?

We would love to help you find a golf training device. Here are a couple of different ways to find the best golf training device for you and your game.

1. You will want to determine which part of your game needs to be improved the most. You will break this down into the three categories: Full swing, Short Game and Putting.
2. To use an example we are going to say that your putting needs the most work.
3. Determine which putting theory best suits your stroke. Are you and arc putter or are you more of a straight back straight through putter? It really does not matter as long as you pick just one of them!
4. If you determine or decide that you are better off putting in an arc then that helps you narrow down which putting training device will work best for you. It is obvious that you do not want to purchase a training aid that will force your putter into a path that moves straight back and straight through. Once you are not using the training aid, you will revert back towards your old habits and be stuck in putting limbo. Obviously, if you are a straight back straight through putter then the opposite would be true for you.

If you are already taking golf lessons then you can consult with your teaching professional. Teaching professionals work with new and different golf training devices all of the time and can suggest one that will help you that will fit into your price range.

Another warning would be to be careful about training aid products that are sponsored by Tour pros. Not to say that they do not work, just keep in mind that the pro is being paid to make the commercial or infomercial and has an interest in that direction.

Golf Training Aids That Work

We are asked often about what are the golf training aids that recommend for our students. Obviously, the best golf training aids can be different for everyone depending on what part of your game or your swing that you are trying to improve.

No matter how you swing the putter, a laser putter is one of the golf training aids that can improve your game. Depending on which laser putter you employ you can use it indoors or out. The laser putter will allow you to monitor and improve your alignment before you even make a stroke. As you make a putting stroke with the laser pointing at a wall, the laser should not run up the wall on the forward swing. If it does, this means that your left wrist has broken down through impact. When this happens in a putting stroke it is impossible to strike a putt solidly and the player will struggle with distance control.

One of the most popular golf training aids that we use with our students for the full swing is a weighted golf club. With the extra weight, our students can fix multiple challenges in all parts of their golf swing. A weighted golf club is more difficult to manipulate for the student and will swing on a more natural path on the backswing as well as the forward swing. In addition, many students are able to feel the transition at the top of their swing for the very first time.

One of the other golf training aids that we employ with our students is a putting arc. Now before we get started, if you tend to stroke your putts with a straight back and straight through putting theory, this putting aid is not of you. If you believe that the putter should swing in an arc then this is by far the best training aid to improve your putting. The deluxe model is very durable and can be taken anywhere. It will allow you to practice while you are on the putting green, in your office or at home.

Training Aids

I have been playing golf for years. I would like to improve my golf swing and purchase some training aids. Where can I go to get information on training aids and figure out what will help me improve my game?

Online Golf Shop
As you know by shopping online at such sites as VGS Golf (http://www.virtualgolfswing.com/), you can easily compare prices among different stores. The product will be shipped directly to you and be ready for you to use. Do not think that you automatically will pay more for the product due to the shipping cost. Many of today's vendors offer free shipping or a shipping charge of one flat rate. You will want to make sure that the site is a safe site by the seals that they display. Another advantage to shopping online is that you will be able to find the most obscure practice aids. This could be good or bad for you. It depends if you just keep surfing or you are able to make a decision. HAHA

Golf Store
Whether you live close to one of the "big box" golf stores or you have a small local golf store close to you, they should have plenty of practice aids available. Typically, the big box stores will have a larger selection due to their sheer size and buying power. Unless you are looking for something very specific, you should be able to find the most popular training aids available no matter the size of the store.

Golf Course
If you are already taking lessons from a golf professional, he or she more than likely has the ability to sell the practice aid. Since you are already taking multiple lessons from them, they might even offer you a discount to purchase the training aids through them and or their facility.

You can easily find the training aids that you need at your regular golf course, a local golf shop or by finding an online retailer. Keep in mind that you must find the correct practice aids to help you and your golf swing or it will all be for naught and lead to being frustrated.

Putting Aids To Help With Putting Fundamentals

I have been looking at putting aids. There are so many out there it is hard to tell what will work and what will not. Can you give me some suggestions for putting aids that can help me with the putting fundamentals?

1. Start the ball on the correct line – Direction is one of the two most important parts of a putt. Direction is most important when we get down to the three and four footers and something is on the line. Obviously, all of us can stroke a putt that travels three of four feet so distance is not a challenge. The use of putting aids referred to as putting pegs allow you to work solely the direction that you are starting your putts. Putting pegs are pegs anchored into the ground and has a string that runs above the ground between the two pegs. Sometimes they are made with pencils and string or you can purchase pre-made pegs. This will allow you to make your stroke and follow the golf ball under the string. You will have automatic feedback.

2. Straight back and straight through stroke – One of the two popular putting theories was developed by Dave Pelz. The straight back and straight through theory also known as the Pelz theory is moving the putter head in a straight back and straight through motion. There are many manufacturers that offer putting aids to give you the sensation of the proper movement. The more bent over that you are when you address the putt, the more likely you are to use the straight back and straight through putting method.

3. Putting arc stroke – The other popular putting theory was developed by Stan Utley. With his theory, the putter travels in an arc around your spine. Again, many manufacturers offer different putting aids to allow you feel the correct sensation. Many times the decision of which theory that you use is determined by how you set up to the golf ball when you putt. The more upright when you address the putt, the more likely you are to use the arc putting method.

Create Your Own Golf Putting Aid

What is an effective putting tip for a putting drill to use on the practice putting green so I can practice like a pro. I struggle to put my putts on the correct line and would like a putting drill that will help me to hit putts on the same line every time.

Here is a cheap golf putting aid that you can make yourself. You will need two 3-inch nails, eight to eleven feet of kite string or yarn will also work and a Sharpie and/or a range ball.

1. Identify a putt of ten feet or less that is a straight putt. It can be slightly uphill but preferably the flatter the better.
2. Place one of the 3-inch nails behind the putting cup and on the line with direction you'll be putting. As you push the nail into the ground, make sure the top of the nail is high enough for your putter blade to fit under the string or yarn that will be attached.
3. Place the other 3-inch nail up to 10 feet on the other side of the hole from the other nail. The string will create a shadow on top of your intended line of your putt.
4. Tie the string or yarn to the top of both nails. Insure the string or yarn is tight enough so that the string doesn't sag.
5. With your Sharpie, draw a straight line completely around the center of your golf ball. Any of the tools for creating a line on your golf ball works best. A range ball will also work for this as well.
6. Set your golf ball down anywhere underneath the string. The line that you drew or the range ball stripe should be parallel with the string or yarn aiming at the putting cup.
7. Last, strike the golf ball. The goal is to have the ball roll underneath the string as the string shadows the line on your ball or range ball. This will require your putter head to slide underneath the string to be able to strike the golf ball solidly. If the line on the golf ball goes from side to side, then you did not hit the ball with the putter head moving at the target with a square face. If the stripe or line stays straight with deviating, your putter head did hit the ball with the putter head moving at the target with a square face.

This putting drill will provide immediate feedback. If your not striking the golf ball correctly, then you will know it immediately as the line or stripe will become larger as the ball rolls on its side.

Putting Advice For Beginners

I am a beginning golfer and would like to know how to lower my scores. I keep hearing that I should spend time on my putting stroke but I do not know what I should practice. Can give me a good place to start?

First let me applaud you for wanting to improve your putting and not wanting to just stand on the range and beat practice balls. The info below will definitely put you on the right track.

Since while you are putting you must stand to the side of the golf ball, your eyes must be over the golf ball. We have all heard this one before, correct? In addition, your eyes should not be ahead of the golf ball either. To learn where your eyes are positioned during your putting stroke, simply take your putting stance. Then drop a golf ball from the bridge of your nose and between your eyes. The ball should drop onto the ball on the ground or just behind it on the target line. There are also many golf putting aids that can assist you with where you are positioning your eyes while putting.

Making sure that your shoulders are square to the target line is an important putting fundamental that is often over looked. Many players use an open stance while they putt. Allowing your feet and hips to be open at address is fine. However, the shoulders must be square to your target line. As you bend over and let your arms hang freely to make your putting stroke. Your arms will naturally swing back and forth in the direction the your shoulders are pointing.

The last thing you should practice to improve your putting stroke is to simply hold your finish for a count of three seconds. This is important for a couple of reasons. Holding your finish will make sure that you are accelerating during your stroke. In addition, this will give you time to reflect on what went well and what could have gone better.

Do not fall into the rest of the crowd and spend all of your time on the driving range. SPlit yoru time evenly and use these putting tips and or putting aids on the putting green to improve your putting stroke and you will see your scores improve very quickly.

3 Indoor Putting Training Aids To Keep You Sharp Over The Winter

As the weather reports show more and more snow falling across the US, I know many golf-addicts are wondering how to keep their putting stroke sharp during the unwanted lay-off from the game. Indoor practice putting is an inexpensive and convenient way to keep your putting stroke well-tuned while you cannot get outside and practice. Here are three putting training aids that can effectively be used indoors to improve your stroke.

INDOOR PRACTICE PUTTING - The Putting Alignment Mirror
The Putting Alignment Mirror is very easy to use and great for checking your setup on your putts. As poor alignment is the major cause of missed putts, using the Alignment Mirror will create confidence on the green. The Putting Alignment Mirror is very portable as it can be kept it in your golf bag! You can use the Putting Alignment Mirror indoors at home or at the office or outside when you practice or warm up before a round. The Putting Alignment Mirror measures 12" x 6" and comes with a black carry bag as well as an instructional DVD. The Putting Alignment Mirror is the #1 training aid requested by the PGA tour players from Eyeline Golf!

INDOOR PRACTICE PUTTING - The Putting Arc
The Putting Arc putting trainer works because it guides the putter head in pure planar rotation about an axis which passes through the golfer’s spine between the shoulders. This means that the hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders all stay connected throughout the putting stroke. The Putting Arc golf putting aid has radial lines on its top. This important feature shows the correct clubface alignment at each point in the putting stroke. This alignment is just as important as the club head path! Again, this practice aid can be used indoors or out and comes with a CD to show you how to quickly lower your scores through better putting.

INDOOR PRACTICE PUTTING - The TOMI Personal Putting Trainer
With
The TOMI Personal Putting Trainer, you will feel like you are taking a personalized putting lesson from one of the world's top putting instructors, Marius Filmalter whenever you are using the unit. TOMI records the most critical parameters of your putting stroke in real-time. TOMI shows you what you're doing right and what you are doing incorrectly as well as tells you how to fix it and even gives you the drills you need to become a great putter.

TOMI was developed by professional instructor Marius Filmalter, a pre-eminent authority on the mechanics and psychology of golf. Marius has helped to instruct golfers on the PGA, Champions, and LPGA Tours, and has personally studied over 43,000 putting strokes in his career.

A Full Swing Training Aid And A Putting Training Aid

I am looking for some help with training aids. I would like to find two training aids that will help me improve my golf game. I would like one training aid to be for the full swing and the other training aid to improve my straight back and straight through putting theory. Any suggestions that you give will be appreciated.

Golf Practice Aid: Heavy Golf Club

The best heavy golf club or weighted practice club available is the GolfGym’s Club 38 or GolfGym’s Club 28. Both golf training aids come with a Katherine Roberts Quick Start DVD. "Since incorporating GolfGym products into my fitness programs, I have been able to offer a more effective level of golf-specific training and conditioning to my students." - Katherine Roberts, The Golf Channel Fitness Expert. Good players feel the golf club throughout the entire golf swing and understand how using a weighted practice club adds power and increases the range of motion in a golf swing. Since they started using a weighted practice club, these players realize increased distance, fewer injuries and more enjoyment of the game. The exclusive club design of the Club 38 or Club 28 allocates the weight of the practice club like that of a standard golf club. This has half of the total weight in the bottom third of the club. With this type of weighting you will develop consistency by staying on plane which will lead to better golf shots and lower scores.

Golf Practice Aid: Putting Square System

This golf putting golf practice aid is for the player who believes in the Dave Pelz straight back and straight through method of putting. Through the use of the attached mirror, The Putting Square System allows a golfer to monitor that their eyes are over the golf ball at address. In addition, it gives them instant feedback so they can monitor that their shoulders are square to the target line. The Putting Square System has changeable side rails that force the player to practice a perfect back and through stroke.

EyeLine Practice T Training Aid

Many of the troubles that amateurs have with their golf swing begin before they even swing the golf club. Most amateurs do not have a good setup. In particular, most golfers do not aim where they think that they are looking. Once these players are properly aligned, their golf swings change for the better since they are properly aligned at their target. THE PRACTICE T is the golf practice tool that I use to help my student make sure that they can take dead aim. This practice aid allows you to build the perfect setup before every swing that you take on the range. For most right-handed players they aim to far to the right of their target and then wonder why they come over the top during their golf swing.

When I am practicing by myself or getting ready for a golf lesson with a student, I can set up The Practice T in less than one minute and is easy to set up for use. Another benefit is that without resetting the golf training aid, you can easily change where you place the ball by simply sliding the opposite bar. This allows you to make sure that you have the correct ball position with the correct alignment and do not have to keep digging deeper in the same divot. In addition, you can make sure that your shoulders are correct by using the mirror. You will have greater control and consistency with every club.

This is the practice tool that will help you build the perfect setup. This golf training aid is easy to set up while you are practicing and you can easily secure THE PRACTICE T in the ground with just golf tees. The practice unit also includes a mirror so you can ensure your shoulders are aligned properly to your target. You will have greater control and consistency with every golf club.

VGS Golf & Country Club Supply have customers in Charlotte, North Carolina, El Paso, Texas, Boston, Massachusetts, Washington, District of Columbia, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Seattle, Washington, Denver, Colorado, Nashville-Davidson, Tennessee, Las Vegas, Nevada, Portland, Oregon, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Tucson, Arizona, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Atlanta, Georgia, Long Beach, California, Brookhaven, New York, Fresno, California, New Orleans, Louisiana, Sacramento, California and Cleveland, Ohio.

Training Aid For My Alignment

I am having trouble aiming when I line up to make my shot. I feel like I am making a good swing but the ball does not go anywhere close to where I thought that it would. Can you give me any suggestions for a training aid that could help me with this?

This is a VERY common challenge for all handicaps. Many of the lessons that The Wireless Golf Coach gives, start out by asking the student where they are aiming. It is surprising how many times where they are literally aiming does not match what they tell me. THE PRACTICE T is the golf practice tool that I use to help my student make sure that they can take dead aim. This practice aid allows you to build the perfect setup before every swing that you take on the range.

The Right Touch Training Aid - Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions about The Right Touch golf swing trainer:

Does the length of The Right Touch probe fit everyone? (Kids, Tall, and Overweight)

Answer: YES With the test that we performed on the ModelPro, we were able to determine that the slot position is the same distance away from the body, no matter the shape and size of the golfer. The golfer still has to have the right arm (or left arm for left-handed golfers) come close to the side of the body.

Will I gain distance using The Right Touch?

Answer: YES The Right Touch golf swing trainer will teach a golfer to make a correct weight transfer, correct swing path and make a full finish. Implementing these corrections will create increased distance by teaching the golfer to use their body and arms correctly.

I am very overweight - will this golf swing trainer work for me?

Answer: YES After testing this golf swing trainer on many different golfers, we found that The Right Touch golf training aid works very well for overweight golfers. Most overweight golfers tend to swing their arms around and over the top of their belly. Using The Right Touch golf training aid, the golfer will learn to clear the hips first so that their arms will swing down the correct swing path.

Where exactly do I put The Right Touch?

Answer: The golf practice aid should be placed on your belt line in front of your hip bone, so that when you look down, the The Right Touch Probe points down the center of your thigh.

If I am still pulling the shot or slicing the shot using The Right Touch, what did I do wrong?

Answer: You have this golf training aid too close to your belt buckle. The reason that The Right Touch golf training aid works every time is that it can be moved around the belt line to accommodate any amount of slice or pull. Just move the probe further away from the center and more out on the hip. After some practice, you will find the perfect spot on your body to create great shots all the time.

5 Things You Must Have In Your Golf Bag

Here is a quick list of Five things you need to have in your golf bag:

• Sunscreen – Let's face it, no matter what part of the country that you live in, you must protect yourself against the harmful rays of the sun. Even on days that to you are "not that hot." The damaging rays are still getting to your skin. I have seen fair-skinned people turn red on a cloudy day! Check with your doctor on how strong of a SPF you need to protect yourself. Sunscreen now comes in many different forms now to make it easy to carry with you and to apply during your round of golf.

• Golf Hat – Your golf hat will work in conjunction with your sunscreen to protect your skin against damage from the sun. In addition, a golf hat will keep the sweat out of your eyes on the brutally hot days. Ladies a golf hat will also allow you to keep your hair out of your face whether the wind is blowing or not. This is not very big and easiliy stores in a golf bag.

• Baggie for Golf Gloves – These is an easy and cheap way to make your golf gloves last longer. Keeping your golf gloves in a baggie will keep them all in one place and with the baggie sealed your golf gloves will last longer.

Golf Training Aids – This is obviously easier to do if you are riding in a golf cart and have a cart bag or a staff bag. It also depends on the golf training aids that you are using. For example, if you are using an extra shaft to work on your turn, the weight will not bother you even if you are walking and carrying your bag. Conversely, some of the putting training aids get vary bulky and would be difficult to fit into a golf bag.

• Ball Markers – If you are like me I use loose change as my ball makers. I like using the quarters of the states that I have visited. Goofy, I know but it keeps me off the streets. HAHA It always seems I need extra change around the club as well. You might collect ball markers from the golf courses that you have played and a second baggie will help keep them in one place and not damage them as well.

The TOMI Professional Putting Aid

I am a golf instructor in New York. I have been researching and hearing about the TOMI Putting System. The TOMI Professional unit seems to be very good however I have not been able to see one in real life yet. Have you had an experience with the TOMI Professional and can you tell me your version of how it works?

I have had the opportunity to use and be on the TOMI Professional Putting System personally. Once set up properly, it was awesome to use for my putting stroke as well as what I was able to do with the few students that I have had on the unit. It is a lot of info and some students (lawyers, engineers, etc.) could be a challenge as the TOMI Professional unit gives you A LOT of information.

The TOMI, a putting stroke training aid, records the most parameters of your putting stroke in real-time. Tomi shows you what you're doing right as well as what you're doing wrong. Then tells you how to fix your problem by giving you the putting drills that you will need to become a great putter.

The Tomi putting training aid allows you to use your own putter and will capture the following measurements: Alignment of the putter face at the point of impact The speed of the putter head The direction that the path of your stroke will take during the motion The amount of rotation of the putter face on the backswing as well as the amount of rotation of the putter face on the forward swing. The Tomi Putting Training Aid captures, records and will give you real time feedback on your putting stroke on multiple strokes.

So how does the TOMI Professional putting training aid work? The Tomi's transmitter clip moves in perfect unison with the putter. The clip signals putter motions to the Tomi base unit. In turn, the base unit performs a sequence of algorithms and transmits results to the system pc. Then the Tomi's stroke analysis software converts the data into easy-to-understand and easy-to-explain charts and graphs right on your computer screen.

Putting Aids

What exactly are putting aids? Putting aids are devices that are designed to help you improve your golf game. The inevitable question though is do they work? They most certainly do. These practice aids will help you become a more precise and better-rounded golfer. Putting aids come in all different forms and support many different putting theories such as the Stan Utley putting theory and the Dave Pelz putting theory. If you do not belong to a country club, you may wish to purchase a putting aid such as an indoor putting green that resembles a golf hole. These can vary from in-ground putting greens to simple strips on artificial turf. This way you can get as much practice as you want to or need to. The more elaborate indoor putting greens offer multiple holes and undulation for practicing breaking putts.

If you wish to improve your putting stroke, there are putting practice aids for you too. Some putting aids are designed to help you keep you with proper ball position your putting alignment as well.

In addition, Putting mirrors are available to help you improve your stroke. This idea may sound simple but it can really help you get your stance and your putting stroke perfected. Another putting aid is the laser guide. This can attach to your putter or golf bag. What the practice aid does is point where the putter face is pointing throughout your stroke. This will bring consistency to your putting stroke and help you lower your scores.

If you are looking for a lot of putting aids in one spot, there are now many packages that feature several different putting practice aids. Most golf stores, sporting good stores or web sites devoted to golf will carry these packages that you can buy as a gift for your favorite golfer or buy to improve your own game.

The Pendulum Putting Rod

If you are looking for a putting aid, The Pendulum Putting Rod allows you to become a better putter and lower your scores. It will allow you to improve your putting plane, your putting setup, your putting impact position as well as your balance while you putt.

PERFECT PUTTING PLANE: The Pendulum Putting Rod also keeps your stroke on plane. If you make the mistake of taking the putter back outside of the target line, the Pendulum Putting Rod will fall off of your chest.

PERFECT PUTTING SETUP: If the putter shaft is behind the ball at address, it adds loft to the putter. The Result: The putt bounces. It tends to go to the right of target comes up short of the cup. The Pendulum Putting Rod creates a perfect shaft angle – On target, in the cup.

PERFECT PUTTING IMPACT: Many amateurs allow their putter head to pass their hands before impact. This results in hitting putts on the bottom of the putter face and no consistency in their direction or distance. If the hands “flip” through the impact zone, there is no control of the putter face. This putting aid keeps you in the proper hand position at impact which will result in you hitting consistent, solid putts which will result in better distance control.

PERFECT PUTTING BALANCE: If you lift your head and eyes during the stroke, you will incorrectly strike the putt. In turn, you will have difficulty controlling your distance that you stroke your putts and end up with really long or short second putts. The Pendulum Putting Rod putting aid keeps you in the perfect balanced posture and lets you hit every putt solid.

As I said before, I have never met a golfer that did not want to improve his or her golf game and this is a tool that will give you instant feedback whether it is good or bad. See you on the putting green!

Weighted Golf Club

I am looking to improve my golf swing this winter and am interested in learning more about a weighted golf club and what the benefits would be for me.

Here are three benefits:

1. It is important that when are purchasing your weighted golf club that the golf practice aid has the same proportional weight as a regular golf club. Having the weight in proportion to a real golf club will allow the weighted golf club to react more like your real golf club. We are not talking about placing a weighted doughnut around the hosel of the club as this makes the club head end of the club extraordinarily heavy. It is fine to warm up and take a dozen swings to stretch yourself out like this however, I do not recommend using this setup as a full swing practice aid 100% of the time as using this method will not help your golf swing if used for a long period of time due to the improper weighting of the club.

2. As you might expect, a properly weighted golf club will improve your golf game by making you stronger. The extra weight of the weighted practice club will make you use more of your golf muscles than you do in your "regular swing" therefore, building your golf muscles such as your core muscles. I suggest swinging a heavy golf club both right-handed and left-handed in order to keep yourself balanced.

3. The extra weight of a weighted golf club will also stretch you more than you are used to doing in your regular golf swing. The stretching of these muscles will build a larger "range of motion." Fancy term, huh? All it means is that you will be able to turn farther back and turn farther through during your golf swing. However, the farther through that you can turn through on the forward swing the farther you will be able to hit the golf ball!

Putting Aids As A Christmas Gift

I am starting to look for Christmas gifts for my husband and he told me that he would like a putting aid. Can you suggest a few putting aid or two to me that will not break the bank?

Here are a few ideas at different price points that should not break your bank:

Putting Arc Deluxe
The Putting Arc Deluxe is a beautifully finished solid piece of wood that can be used indoor or outdoors as a putting aid. The Putting Arc is a revolutionary new golf training aid, which will guide you to a simple, repeatable, and understandable approach to putting. With The Putting Arc Deluxe you will develop a confidence when standing over your putter felt by only a small percentage of golfers. A confidence in your ability to direct the golf ball exactly where you intend is priceless. The Putting Arc works because it teaches you to take the putter head in pure planar rotation about an axis which passes through the golfer's spine between the shoulders. This means that the hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders all stay connected throughout the putting stroke. The Putting Arc Deluxe is used regularly used by PGA Tour Professionals.

Putting Laser Line Putter
A golfer can easily lower their scores with The EyeLine Putting Laser Line. Easily attach The Putting Laser Line to your putter shaft. Immediately you will be able to see a line square to the putter face and on the target line. This will insure that you are setup squarely to every putt. The Putting Laser Line is delivered with an instructional DVD. With the Putting Laser Line, a golfer can track your stroke perfectly during your backswing and follow-through.

Bullseye Cup
Whether you are stroking straight or breaking putts, The Bullseye Cup will make a real putting cup look like a basketball net and allow you to feel like you can make everything! The Bullseye Cup is a circular device with a two inch opening that reduces the hole by 30%. This two inch opening will help you visualize where the ball should enter the hole on a breaking or straight putts.

Lag In The Golf Swing

I have a question about creating lag in the golf swing. What is lag in the golf swing and are there any golf training aids to help you achieve it?

Lag in the golf swing is created in the golf swing when the golf club is being pulled through the impact area as opposed to being pushed through impact. Without tension in your wrists, elbows and shoulders, the pulling action of the golf club will place your grip ahead of the club head through impact. If you use muscles in your hands and arms to push the golf club at the golf ball then the arc will bottom out earlier and in turn your club head will be coming up at the ball as opposed to trapping the golf ball into the ground and creating a divot. In order to trap the golf ball against the ground, your hands must be ahead of the club head at impact creating the pulling action. If not, then you are pushing the golf club.

The Callaway Golf impact bag is a training aid that helps you to create lag in the golf swing and promotes a flat left wrist, develops correct muscle memory and increases upper body strength. For better precision, swing rhythm, endurance and consistency practice your swing for fifteen minutes daily using the Impact Bag. Callaway Impact Bag Practice Aid features: Water resistant vinyl and overstitched seams for years of use indoors and out Optimum contact points are clearly marked Folds for easy storage and travel Soft design lets you practice anywhere, anytime Develops correct muscle memory for a repeatable swing Encourages a flat left wrist for on-target hits Promotes a square clubface at impact Reduces sky shots, hooks, slices, pulls, pushes, topping, duffing, and shanks Develops upper body strength Increases ball distance Relieves stress Lets you practice anywhere, anytime.

Indoor Practice Nets

I want to buy an indoor practice net so I can practice in the garage this winter. Do you have any suggestions that will allow me to do this and not break the bank at the same time?

The Big Mouth by Izzo
Utilizing a fiberglass hoop frame, the Big Mouth golf practice net from Izzo eliminates the hassle of setting up frame poles and clipping net hangers. Simply toss The big Mouth golf practice net where you want it and the net will automatically spring to life. From there, it is up to you on how fast you can place a tee in the ground and start practicing.
Closed, the Big Mouth is a thirty-six inch flat disk that only weighs about fifteen pounds and stores practically anywhere. The Big Mouth expands from a three-foot disk to a seven by nine foot golf net what will feel faster than you can get away the first few times.

Another feature of the Big Mouth is the introduction of woven netting. This "knotless" technology allows the mesh to stretch and absorb the ball's force resulting in a net that is thirty percent stronger. In addition you will have an adjustable chipping net that hangs in the middle of the Big Mouth's frame. The chipping net is suspended on four sides by adjustable chords which allow you to set the position of the chipping net to work on high lob shots or low bump and run shots.

The Super Cage Mouth Net
The Super Cage Mouth Net is a premium practice net and will allow you to improve your golf game at home or take it to your in-laws to give you something to do while you are there! The Super Cage Mouth Net has a patented pop-up design from Izzo and is a premium practice net made of high durability nylon. It easily folds flat to 46-inches and can be used indoors or outside. Folding flat, The Super Cage Mouth Net can be stored easily when you are not using it as it. The Super Cage Mouth Net has a 10' x 12' Hitting Area.

Utley And Pelz Putting Training Aids

I have some friends that are good players and they are always using different putting training aids. They have told me that different putting aids work with different putting methods. How do I know which golf putting aids will help me?

The first question that you need to ask yourself is: Do you putt in an arc? The second question being: Do I move the putter straight back and straight through during my stroke? The answers to these two simple questions will provide you with the information that you need to go and purchase the correct putting aids that will help improve your putting stroke and to lower your scores.

Putting Aids – Stan Utley Putting Method
Stan Utley is the author of the book The Art of Putting. In it, he concludes that the putter, as every other club during a golf swing, moves around one central point being your spine. With this thinking the putter head would naturally move in an arc around your spine, this it has become known as the arc putting method. With this putting theory, it is thought that the putter head is not manipulated during the putting stroke which in turn leads to a smaller chance for error. Utley has worked with such tour players as Jay Haas, Peter Jacobson, Darren Clarke and Rocco Mediate.

Putting Aids – Dave Pelz Putting Method
Dave Pelz began his career as a NASA scientist and brought his analytical thought process to golf and specifically the short game. Pelz has taken statistics on all aspects of the short game for years. His first book Putt Like The Pros laid the ground work for the follow up The Putting Bible. It is Pelz belief that the putter head and putter face should stay on a direct line with your target or target line (for a breaking putt) throughout the entire stroke. Many critics think that it is impossible to consistently manipulate the putter head as needed to produce a putt that will roll on the desired line. Pelz currently focuses on his Phil Mickelson, two-time Masters Champion.

Putting Aids – TOMI Putting Sytem
The TOMI Putting System was invented by Marius Filmalter. The TOMI Putting System uses technology to give you information on your alignment at set-up and impact, the direction of your stroke path, the amount of rotation in your swing as well as the speed of your putter at impact. No matter which putting method that you use, this system really measures where you are when it counts the most and that is impact! The TOMI comes in a personal version as well as a professional version.

Putting Training Aid That Will Work With Any Putting Theory

We get asked all of the time about different putting theories and the best putting training aid to use to help implement the putting theory into their putting stroke. Obviously our students must first must decide if they are going to putt in an arc or use the straight back and straight through putting method. In this article we will discuss the TOMI Putting System and how it can help you no matter which putting theory that you use.

Putting Training Aid – The TOMI Putting System
You will feel like you are taking a personalized putting lesson from one of the world's top putting instructors, Marius Filmalter whenever you are using the TOMI. Tomi records the most critical parameters of your putting stroke in real-time. Tomi shows you what you're doing right and what you're doing wrong, tells you how to fix it and even gives you the drills you need to become a great putter.

TOMI evaluates your putting stroke and Marius gives you constructive feedback on how to perfect your putting stroke. TOMI will see flawed stroke angles and motions that often go unnoticed, even to expert eyes. The Tomi will capture all of the following data and display it for you: Alignment at Impact, Stroke Path Direction, Backward Stroke Rotation, Forward Stroke Rotation, and Speed at Impact. Tomi captures, records and gives real-time feedback on your stroke. The TOMI can be used for both putting theories.

The above putting training aids will help you develop a better putting stroke. You need to first decide which whether you are going to implement the straight back and straight through putting method or if you are going to putting in an arc. Once this decision is made, then you can choose the putting training aid that will work for you and will help you lower your scores.

Putting Training Aids To Make More Putts

Putting, putting, and putting! When will you start to believe that you can hit a bad drive and recover but when you hit a bad putt the stroke is gone forever! There are many good putting training aids to help you improve your putting and putting stroke. Here are just a few:

How about we start with the hole itself. Several putting training aids can help you learn precisely where your ball should enter the hole in order to reliably drop in at the end of a putt. The Bullseye Cup is a simple tool that wraps around the cup, reducing the cup by nearly a third. The two-inch opening in the Bullseye’s wraparound helps you visualize the precise angle of entry that will or will not work when you putt. Once you are familiar with this visualization, you can remove the Bullseye Cup and putt with the same precision unaided.

Mirrors are also highly important in terms of putting training aids. This is a classic tool, and a simple one, but it is long trusted for a reason: it really helps. The best way to perfect your putting stroke is to really be able to see what you are doing. You can probably tell when your golfing partners are not quite straight, or are over compensating, right? But everyone knows it is harder to see yourself with the same accuracy. There are several putting alignment mirrors by Izzo and other trusted brains that help you get a full view of your stance and motion on a putt. The Putting Alignment Mirror from Eyeline Golf can be easily carried in your golf bag for a quick check before a round. Izzo’s Pure Putt Putting Mirror is durable and lightweight putting training aid. In addition, it can help you correct your shoulder position during both indoor and outdoor practice.

Golf Training Aid - Suggestions That Work

Is it just me or does it seem that everyone wants everything to happen right now in our society? Our students want to improve right now. Even with the use of a golf training aid, it just does not happen that way. Here are a couple of the good golf training aids that we use with our students and have seen success using these products when on a consistent basis.

Golf Training Aid: Eyeline Putting Laser Line
The EyeLine Putting Laser Line makes putting much easier. The Putting Laser Line quickly attaches to the putter shaft of your current putter. You will immediately see a line square to the putter face as well as on the target line. This line will insure that you are setup squarely to every single putt. You will track your stroke perfectly during your backswing and follow-through with the Putting Laser Line.

Golf Training Aid: Weighted Practice Club
The best weighted practice club available is the GolfGym’s Club 38 or GolfGym’s Club 28.

VGS Golf & Country Club Supply has customers in Kansas City, Missouri, Mesa, Arizona, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Omaha, Nebraska, Oakland, California, Miami, Florida, Tulsa, Oklahoma, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Arlington, Texas, Wichita, Kansas, St. Louis, Missouri, Raleigh, North Carolina, Santa Ana, California, Anaheim, California, Cincinnati, Ohio, Islip, New York, Tampa, Florida and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

The Pendulum Putting Rod

Holing more putts is always on every golfers mind whether they are playing a casual round of golf or playing for the Club Championship. As my students are always looking to improve their golf game, I keep preaching that a putting training aid is the quickest way to lower their scores. Remember, the majority of the strokes that you take during a round of golf are taken on the putting green.

The Pendulum Putting Rod helps you with critical fundamentals of the sought after in a pendulum putting stroke. This putting training aid will give you a perfect one-piece connection between the shoulders, arms, and hands. The Pendulum Putting Rod will allow you to feel your perfect posture throughout the entire putting stroke. If you change your spine angle, The Pendulum Putting Rod will fall from your chest. In addition, you will be able to monitor your putter shaft angle at address and all of the way through impact. Hence, you will have a consistent putter loft which will equate to consistent distance control.

As many of our students seem to think practicing their putting is like a trip to the dentist, putting training aids such as the Pendulum Putting Rod give our students instant feedback that is very easy to understand whether they made a good stroke or not. What will typically happen after our students spend just a few sessions with the putting aid is they have more confidence that they are making the correct stroke and therefore hole more putts. Is it not funny how holing more putts and shooting lower scores always equates into having more fun? But the cycle will start again. They think they “have it” and will go for a period of time without practicing their putting and fall back into the same rut. Do not let that happen to you!

Putting Training Aids To Lower Your Scores

We are always getting asked for our opinion on what the best putting training aid will be for a student. Below are the two that we really like a lot and have helped many of our students.

Putting Training Aid - Putting Laser
The EyeLine Putting Laser Line makes lowering golfers scores much easier. The Putting Laser Line quickly attaches to the putter shaft and immediately allows you to see a line square to the putter face and on the target line and will insure that you are setup squarely to every putt. The Putting Laser Line is delivered with an instructional DVD. With the Putting Laser Line, a golfer can track your stroke perfectly during your backswing and follow-through.

Putting Training Aid - Putting Square System
This putting training aid is perfect for someone who believes the Dave Pelz straight back and straight through method of putting. The mirrored Putting Square System allows a golfer to monitor that their eyes are over the ball and monitor that their shoulders are lined up with the face of the putter square to the target line. The Putting Square System has changeable side rails that force the player to practice a perfect back and through stroke.

Putting Training AidPutting and Chipping Brace
The Putting and Chipping Brace from Eyeline Golf is a helpful golf training aid. The changable strap allows the putting and chipping brace to fit all golfers. The putting and chipping brace goes on your leading wrist and it will keep your forearms at a consistent distance from each other, keeping you in "one piece." Golf Training Aids - Putting And Full Swing

There are a whole host of golf training aids. These golf training aids use new technology and can cost thousands of dollars or can be very simple and cost fewer than twenty dollars. Look in any golf shop or online and you will find thousands of devices claiming to help you perfect your golf game. These golf training aids will include training grips that will teach you how to properly hold the golf club to putting systems that will track the head of the putter and store the data on your computer.

The golf training aids are important because they can help you develop a proper technique which is very important in the golf game. Playing the game of golf is much more fun if you have an idea of how to make a good golf swing. The wide variety of golf training aids are intended to help you understand how to distribute your body weight, what the correct grip is and make longer shots.

In addition to the full swing golf aids, there are also many putting training aids. The best putting training aids will depend on the player and the type of putting stroke that they employ. Many putting training aids are portable and will allow you to practice your putting at home or even in the office. The beginners can learn the basics and practice until they are more comfortable with going on the golf course and the advanced players can correct their mistakes and improve their movements in order to lower their score.

There are dozens of other types of golf training aids to help you improve your golf game. You do not have to pay a fortune for a golf training aid. Everybody can improve their game with a bit more rotational strength and flexibility, and a simple piece of exercise tubing attached to a door or a wall is light years better than lifting weights in a gym for strengthening and stretching the muscles you use when playing golf, and adding distance to your golf shots.

Stop Coming Over The Top During Your Full Swing

Are you confused about what your arms are supposed to do in your golf swing? Do you come over the Top when trying to hit a golf ball? The Right Touch is designed to teach you the correct posture and the correct path for your arms to travel on to ensure the most effective golf swing. This golf training aid comes with a velvet pouch with logo and an instructional DVD by Fred Griffin from Grand Cypress in Orlando, Florida and Mike Adams.

Frequently Asked Questions about The Right Touch golf swing trainer:

Does the length of The Right Touch probe fit everyone? (Kids, Tall, and Overweight) Answer: YES With the test that we performed on the ModelPro, we were able to determine that the slot position is the same distance away from the body, no matter the shape and size of the golfer.

After some practice, you will find the perfect spot on you body to create great shots all the time.

Do You Know What Golf Strength Really Is?

What does the term golf strength really mean? Golf strength is used to describe the golf fitness level of an individual pertaining to swinging a golf club. This type of strength is different from conventional weight room strength. Just because someone is muscle-bound this does not automatically equate into good golf. You can see this during a televised celebrity tournament. The big bulky football players are not the players that are winning the golf tournaments.

Flexibility, balance, stability, strength, endurance, and power are all required skills that are needed to perform an efficient golf swing. Your body is the support of your golf swing. You can imagine each as a beam in a foundation for a building. Some beams may bear more weight than others however, they all combine to come up with one of two outcomes, the building will stay up or the building will fall.

You are limiting your potential if you do not have the golf strength but do have flexibility, balance and the other factors. You can see it while walking up and down any practice facility. Golfers are struggling to make "the perfect move" because they are limited by their body and hard as they try they just can not make it happen. A weighted practice club can help you with your strength, flexibility, balance and stability and get you closer to performing the correct golf swing mechanics.

Golf instruction today has become so mechanical. Even to the point that some instructors teach how to golf swing as opposed to how to play golf. Many of the characteristics of the golf swing are dependent of each other. What does that mean? A new golfer wants a .quick fix. and thinks that since their buddy's lesson was about ball position that it must be what will help them. This is just not true. Ball position is only one part of the equation as is balance, stability, flexibility, strength, and endurance.

To hit the 300 yard drive or your personal best, you must understand that proper golf strength levels and efficient golf swing mechanics. These two variables are dependent on each other. For example, perfect golf swing mechanics without strength or power can get you a straight but very short shot. In turn, with high strength levels and no swing mechanics, you may hit the golf ball a very long way but have no idea where it is going due to poor golf swing mechanics.

A weighted practice club can help address many of these issues at the same time can help you keep your golf fitness. You will want to swing the weighted practice iron or driver at full speed as well as a very slow speed. The slower speed will help build strength as the faster swing will help increase flexibility.

The Practice T - Take Dead Aim

Many of the lessons that The Wireless Golf Coach gives, start out by asking the student where they are aiming. It is surprising how many times where they are literally aiming does not match what they tell me. THE PRACTICE T is the golf practice tool that I use to help my student make sure that they can take dead aim. This practice aid allows you to build the perfect setup before every swing that you take on the range.

VGS has customers in different locations throughout the US such as Washington DC, Indianapolis, Indiana, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Albany, New York, Las Vegas, Nevada, Orlando, Florida, Springfield, Illinois, Denver Colorado, Los Angeles, California and Dallas, Texas.

Golf Training Aid #3: Weighted Practice Club

GolfGym's Club 38 or GolfGym's Club 28 are the best weighted practice club available and both come with a Katherine Roberts Quick Start DVD. "Since incorporating GolfGym products into my fitness programs, I have been able to offer a more effective level of golf-specific training and conditioning to my students." - Katherine Roberts, The Golf Channel Fitness Expert. Experienced golfers know the importance of being able to feel the golf club throughout the entire golf swing. Good players understand how using a weighted practice club will add power and increase the range of motion in your golf swing. In using a weighted practice club, they realize increased distance, fewer injuries and more enjoyment of the game. The exclusive club design of the Club 38or Club 28 allocates the weight of the practice club like that of a standard golf club. This has half of the total weight in the bottom third of the club. With this type of weighting you will develop consistency by staying on plane which will lead to better golf shots and lower scores.

Golf Training Aid #4: The Practice T
Every golf swing must have a good foundation and The Practice T is the tool that will help you build the perfect foundation. By using golf tees, The Practice T can be secured into the ground. The setup of The Practice T is very simple and very easy to adjust while the player continues their practice session by sliding the cross-bar. This bar will monitor that the ball position is correct. The Practice T mirror allows the golfer to be certain their shoulders are aligned properly. This product also comes with the instructional DVD which gives the user tips on how to best use The Practice T.

No matter what skill level the golfer is you will be able to find something that will make any golfer that you know happy and improve their game. For other golf gift ideas, golf instruction books or golf equipment go to the Wireless Golf Coach at VGS Golf.

Perfect Entry System - A Putting Training Aid That Works

Do right to left putts scare you? Are left to right putts keeping you from lowering your scores? If so then the Perfect Entry System is for you. The Perfect Entry System the only system in the world that teaches and trains players to read the speed as well as the line of a putt. Many players do not realize that there is more than one way to make a putt. Most think that a putt only goes into the cup when it is hit on the correct line at the correct speed. That is only one way. Depending on how much break is in the putt, this just simply may not be true. You can go to the putting green and test this by hitting breaking putts at different speeds. The more you use the Perfect Entry System during your practice session, the better at determining the best line for you to make the putt.
