I have been surfing the internet for golf lessons. I have seen many golf instruction books and I am wondering if you can really how to play golf from them and if so how do you go about choosing one?

Great question! I like it because I am proof that you can teach yourself out of a golf instruction book. My book of choice was See And Feel The Inside Turn The Outside by Mike Hebron. I am not even sure if it is still in publication. haha I liked it because it related the golf swing to other athletic movements like throwing a baseball or throwing a football. Such books are ideally suited for golf aficionados and fans who have never played golf, but would still like to know the history about the game.

Of course, the downside to having so many lesson books available to you, is that it becomes really easy to pick the wrong book. Everyone knows that walking is the most fundamental of all exercise programs. So it makes sense that walking a golf course with a push cart would be considered good for you. This simply has not always been the case though. Due to the start and stop that happens during the round, many have argued that walking with a golf push cart is not beneficial to your exercise program. I would suggest that these people have never tried to walk eighteen holes in less than four hours.

Relive A Past PGA Championship With A Golf DVD

With the PGA Championship at Oakland Hills just around the corner, this got my buddies and I on the topic of discussing our favorite PGA Championships. There were votes for David Toms gutsy play to lay up and win over Phil Mickelson in Atlanta as well as Tiger Woods over the young Sergio Garcia at Medinah.

My favorite PGA pick is the 2000 PGA Championship. This ending up pitting Tiger Woods against Bob May at Vahalla in Louisville. The back nine on Sunday was a slug-fest with each player throwing and landing the next big punch. Bob May sank a putt from just off the back of the green that somehow wiggled in to send the tournament into extra holes and more drama.

Oakland Hills has hosted many major tournaments throughout its history. Both Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer have won US Senior Open Tournaments at this course. Names such as Ben Hogan, Gene Littler, Andy North and Steve Jones have won the prestigious US Opens held at Oakland Hills. With Tiger Woods on the mend with his knee injury, many people think that anyone can win the 2008 PGA Championship.

There is no doubt that the conditions will be tough. The rough will be so high that you probably will not be able to see a player or caddies ankles. The putting greens will undoubtedly will be firm and fast. This will make hitting the narrow fairways even more difficult. Not that there is not enough pressure on these players with this tournament being a Major Championship.

Another tration is the Champions' Dinner. The Champions' dinner is held each year on the Tuesday evening preceding Thursday's first round. The dinner was first held in 1952, hosted by defending champion Ben Hogan. At that time fifteen tournaments had been played, and the number of past champions was eleven, including Hogan.

2006 Ryder Cup - The K Club Ireland

The 2006 Ryder Cup has been called the greatest Ryder Cup in history! The only thing that didn't go according to plan for the Europeans during the 2006 Ryder Cup at the K Club was having Darren Clarke make the winning putt, since Clarke is from Ireland. Instead, they had to settle for a convincing victory that resulted in an historic third straight loss for the overmatched United States.

The final tally of the week was 18 1/2 Europeans to 9 1/2 US, the same margin of victory the Europeans finished with after their win at Oakland Hills outside Detroit in 2004. After this week at The K Club, the Europeans have now outscored the Americans 95-73 over the last six Ryder Cups, an average of nearly four points difference per contest.

2008 Players Championship DVD - TPC At Sawgrass

Follow the winner Sergio Garcia around the TPC at Sawgrass as he won the 2008 Players Championship. The unexpected leader of the golf tournament was Paul Goydos after three rounds. The winds played havoc with the entire field and 72 holes were not enough to settle this battle. The playoff began on the ominous 17th hole with the island green. This hole decided the championship in a hurry as only Sergio Garcia was able to place his golf ball onto the green. Believe it or not, after accepting the trophy, he thanked Tiger for not being in the field that week!

The TPC at Sawgrass is laid out over 415 acres in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Now known as one of Pete Dye's masterpieces, the golf course has not always been praised by the PGA Tour players. The idea was to build a golf course that would bring out the best players in the field and that was far from what the sentiment was. In 1982, The TPC at Sawgrass held the first Tournament Players Championship and was won by Jerry Pate Jerry Pate is known for then diving into the lake next to the 18th green along with then Commissioner Dean Beman and for winning a PGA Tour event with an orange golf ball.

The TPC at Sawgrass Is home to one of the most-recognizable and most photographed golf holes in the world. Originally it was Pete Dye's wife Alice Dye who suggested building the Island Green. Reluctantly Pete Dye went ahead with the idea and this has ironically become the hole he is best-known for creating.
