Golf Equipment

I am a beginning golfer. I am reading about having your golf equipment custom fit to you and your swing. Since I am shooting 100 to 110 and just getting started, do I need to be custom fit for my golf equipment? Will it really help?

As we are promoters of the game of golf, we will answer that with the answer, it depends. If you are happy with shooting those scores and you enjoy the game, keep using the clubs that you have. If you want to lower your scores then properly fit clubs along with some newer technology could help you do just that. We say this as most beginners start with used clubs.

The rules of golf state that you can carry up to 14 clubs. Notice that this reads up to 14 clubs. If you are a beginner or a higher handicapper and you are purchasing new golf equipment you may not need to carry all 14 clubs. Most manufacturers will now price their clubs individually. This allows you to pick and choose the clubs that you currently need and can add other clubs as you improve.

No matter your skill level, you really do need to focus on your putter and wedges. You will want to find golf equipment that you like to look at when you are addressing the golf ball. If you do not like what you are looking at, it will be more difficult for you to hit a good shot.

If you are playing the game of golf for score, playing golf without the right golf equipment can be very frustrating. With the available club fitters and options from the manufacturers, there is simply no reason to put yourself through that. Why would not you make it as easy on yourself as possible?

Golf Carry Bag

I want to buy a golf carry bag. I figure the extra exercise that I will gain while I play can only help my health as I was recently diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. I am trying to tell my wife that the Doctor is prescribing that I play more golf (if I walk) to improve my blood sugar. I do not know how well that is going over! Haha I also have a bad back and want to grab some information about available golf carry bags?

Sounds like you are wearing out! Haha Being close to those with Type II, the walking will definitely help you keep it in check.

No matter how strong your back currently is the excessive bending over to pick up your regular golf bag will wear on your back. Golf carry bags with stands are an invaluable convenience since you will be able to place your golf stand carry bag on the ground and then grab the golf club you need or replace the chosen golf club without the strain on your back. Golf stand carry bags may allow you to play a full round, if you are a player who has trouble with a bad back.

In addition, the stands on the golf carry bags can be adjusted to make carrying the bag as comfortable as possible during your round. Now most all of the manufactures will offer a dual strap system. This strap system will be put on over each shoulder. The dual strap system allows you to carry the bag in proper balance which makes it easier to carry as well as prevent injuries. Some systems have special strap materials which allow the straps to smoothly slide off your shoulders. In addition, quick and simple adjustments can be performed while the bag is still being carried.

Golf Club Bag

I am a beginning golfer and want to learn more about a golf club bag. Some of the aspects of a golf club bag that I would like to learn more about are about the different types of golf club bags are available and what should a golf club bag weigh?

Thank you for asking the questions. If you have them then someone else is probably wondering the same thing!

First you need to choose what type of bag you want and will suit all of your needs at the same time. There are mainly two types of bags which are carry bag and cart bag. A carry bag is the most basic and common type of golf bag. Its size ranges from 5 to 8.5 inches in diameter and mostly weighs as little as 3.5 pounds. This type of bag is used if your game requires a lot of walking around the golf course. A cart golf bag is often preferred by golfers when walking is not allowed as some golf courses prohibit walking. Cart bags are specifically carried on a golf cart or a buggy. For beginner golfers, a walking bag is the preferred type.

The golf bag is a very useful thing rather than just a fashion statement. You should find a golf bag which is comfortable for you. You need to check the straps if they perfectly fit your body frame and if they can be easily carried. Avoid buying low-quality golf club bags. Always try to buy bag from branded company as they are authentic. Most bags can carry up to 15 golf clubs but remember one thing some golf tournaments are strict on the number of golf clubs you are allowed to carry. You should always go for a waterproof golf club bag because at any time during your round of golf you may have to encounter the elements including rain.

Ladies Golf Bags

I am a female and have been playing golf for the past couple of years. I am looking for a ladies golf bag and other golf equipment. I am getting frustrated as I am not finding a very large selection of ladies golf equipment. My question is are there any golf equipment companies that make only ladies golf equipment and more specifically ladies golf bags?

There are manufactures of ladies golf equipment that only create ladies golf equipment and ladies golf bags. Examples of such companies would be Nancy Lopez Golf and Golf Godess. Nancy Lopez Golf offers golf bags for ladies as well as golf equipment for ladies. The ladies irons can be ordered as a customized set of irons. Golf Godess creates customized ladies golf bags using silver buckles and beautiful stones.

When you think or plan about customizing your golf bag, especially ladies golf bags, you must be happy to learn that you will have flexibility in choosing any colors, which are even odd, to be applied on to your bags. Manufacturers or retailers also support imposing logos on the bags. In fact, majority of the customers do not like to stick with a standard model of products. They all want, like you, to do some kind of customization on the piece which they particularly are going to use. If you are a player who has got a team and teammates, you can have your team’s logo and color on the bags you plan to buy.

If you are a recreational player playing with your business colleagues most of the time, then you might prefer to have your company logo and its color pattern on your ladies golf bag. It will also help you and your colleagues to get extra publicity during your round and while you relax afterwards in the club's restaurants and bars.

Golf Travel Bag For A Golf Vacation

I am planning my first golf vacation for this summer. I am so excited! I am looking to buy a golf travel bag for my trip. I am only going to need to use it a couple of times a year so I am unsure exactly what features that I need to be looking for in my travel golf bag. Can you give me a start? Thanks!

We do not even know where you are going but we are ready to go with you!

As you are looking to purchase a golf travel bag you will want to debate which of the following features are important to you and which features that you will need as opposed to features that you want:

Storage
Size Face it, although we all would like to live out of a golf travel bag, most of the time the bag will be in storage somewhere in the house or the hotel room while on your trip. How small does it fold up becomes a legitimate question especially on your trip. Obviously, this question is already answered, if you purchase a hard golf case as it will not give.

TSA Approved
If you fly to your golf destinations you will want to make sure that you purchase a TSA Approved Travel Bag. As the airlines are restricting the types of bags they carry as well as the overall weight of a bag, owning a TSA Approved golf travel bag can ease many of your headaches. Many times, manufacturers will offer a TSA Approved lock for your bag. This will keep you from needing to purchase a new lock if the TSA decides they need to search the bag.

Wheels
Some people will think that this is a given but some golf travel covers today are still made without wheels. All you have to do is lug a golf travel bag through any major airport one time and you will be ready to purchase a unit with wheels. It makes maneuvering through the airport much easier and much less stressful.

Info On Putter Racks Or Golf Club Racks

I am looking to purchase a putter rack or golf club rack to display some of my favorite golf clubs in my home. I would like to be able to do the same thing in my office. Can you pass along some information about putter displays of golf club display racks to me?

Of course you want to figure out your needs before you start to seriously begin to purchase a putter rack for your golf shop or home office. Putter racks come in various sizes however the most popular units hold eight, twelve or twenty-four putters on one unit. You will want your putter rack to match the décor that is already a part of your golf shop or home office. This is easy to accomplish with all of the putter display options available. Many of the manufactures have multiple options in choices of wood or the choice of stain to match the décor of your home office or golf shop.

One of the really neat things about some of the newer putter racks is that you can also customize any putter rack with your favorite country club, resort or golf course logo. Putter displays are even available with your favorite college logos as well. These work well in your home or office as well as in golf shops in college towns such as Tallahassee, Florida or Auburn, Alabama.

If you manage a country club or resort golf shop, is not a wooden putter rack with your logo not a much better statement to sell putters than shoving putters into a golf bag? The putters will be able to been seen, picked up and handled by prospective buyers which will convert in to more sales out of your golf shop. As a consumer, I promise you that I do not my new prize to be crammed into a golf bag with a bunch of other putters.

A New Golf Bag In My Future?

I am contemplating buying a new golf bag. The bag I currently use can probably make it another year but it has been quite a while since I have bought a bag. I am sure they are much improved now. What do I need to know about golf bag before I begin my search for a new golf bag?

Sounds like you may have some money burning a hoel in yoru pocket! HAHA Good for you. The info below should get you started in your search.

1. Type of BagThe choice of the final type of golf bag that you decide to buy really will be largely determined by how you play the game. If you walk while you enjoy the game then you will definitely want to but a golf stand bag. These bags are also referred to as a carry bag or a sunday bag.If you ride in a golf cart while you enjoy the game then you can purchase either a golf cart bag or a stand bag will work for you. Since you will not be lugging your bag around the course, your decision will be persuaded by the price of the bags and by just what you like.

2. MaterialAfter you have made the decision of whether you are going to purchase a stand bag or a cart bag, this decision might be made for you. What am I talking about? Well, if you are purchasing a stand bag, more than likely the bag will be made of nylon. By using nylon the manufacturer can make a good lightweight stand bag. In turn, the majority of all cart bags are made of leather. Leather is a much heavier material and therefore can be used on cart bag as the weigh is not an issue since you will not be carrying the bag.

3. PocketsAll bags come with a large pocket to keep a rain hood as well as your rain jacket and rain pants. These bags are designed with multiple pockets for golf accessories such as golf balls, tees, a permanent marker and ball markers. In addition, many companies have realized that many golfers want a pocket to keep a water bottle or Gatorade bottle as they play. They have served that need by including an insulated bottle pocket to help keep your drink nice and cool while you practice and play.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

A Stand Bag Or A Cart Bag?

I am looking to buy a new golf bag. What are the differences between a stand bag and a cart bag? And more importantly which one do I need?

1. The biggest question to answer is this: Do you plan to walk while you play golf or are you going to ride during your rounds of golf? This is an important question to have answered before purchasing a new golf bag. If you plan to do any walking at all, then you need to purchase a carry bag or what is also known as a stand bag. These golf bags are light enough to carry when you decide to walk and capable of being strapped to a golf cart.

2. Does the bag have enough pockets to carry all your gear? Again this will change from person to person. I know some players who take their golf clubs with a couple of golf balls to play their round of golf. Others look like they are taking a cross-country voyage and will be gone for three months. You need to decide how much you will need for things such as valuables, rain gear, golf accessories, etc.

3. How many club dividers are built in for club organization? Some of this comes down to personal preference as well as how big the golf bag is. If you are looking at a stand bag, then the more dividers that are added to the bag the heavier it will more than likely be. Many players, who use cart bags, like to have a full-length divider for each of their golf clubs. These dividers help protect each individual golf club. Obviously, doing this in a carry bag would add a lot of unwanted weight.

4. When carrying your golf bag, is it comfortable? Believe it or not this goes for golf stand bags as well as cart bags. Although you may not be carrying your cart bag very far, say from the parking lot, it is still important that you are comfortable doing it. Before you purchase your stand bag, try it on with a set of clubs in it. In addition adjust the straps as needed to make sure you will not have the golf bag rubbing you anywhere causing irritation to your skin.

5. Is there a rain hood or rain cover included with the purchase of the golf bag? This is like a AAA card. You do not ever think about it until you need it in an emergency. It is imperative that the new stand bag or the new cart bag that you purchase has a rain hood. Invariably, we always get caught at some point (usually as far away from the clubhouse as possible) in an unexpected drizzle. A rain hood allows you to keep your golf clubs dry in case it is a fast moving rain.

New Golf Bag, But Which One Is Right?

You first need to understand that there are two types of golf bags available for you to purchase. You will have the option of purchasing a carry bag or a cart bag. Here are a few of the differences:

Carry golf bags or stand bags are bags that are used when you are planning to walk the majority of your rounds of golf. These bags are lightweight and are very versatile. Many players will use a golf carry bag or golf stand bag when they do ride as they play during their round of golf. Cart golf bags are those that you use when walking is not possible (as some golf courses prohibit walking), and riding a golf cart is your option. In addition, some players who do not walk, like these bags because they tend to have more room available through multiple pockets.

When buying a carry golf bag, make sure that you are able to find a comfortable one. Make sure to check the straps to see if it fits comfortably and whether it can be carried easily with a set of golf clubs in it. Even if you are on a restricted budget, do not necessarily purchase the lowest priced golf bags. Comfort is very important in this instance as you will literally be strapped to the bag for many hours. An uncomfortable bag will not only make you miserable on the golf course but in addition the bag can be painful if it rubs you to the point it causes blisters.

A golf cart bag is typically made of heavier material such as leather. In addition, the top of the golf cart bag is usually larger and typically measures approximately nine inches. Due to the size and weight of the bag, it does not make sense to carry a cart bag during your round of golf. Most golfers are not in good enough shape to pull this off and still enjoy it.

Another important thing to consider when purchasing any type of golf bag is its weight. This is one of the most important things to know. A golf bag should be light enough to be carried or carted easily, but sturdy enough to hold your clubs and protect them. Some bags are even water resistant and are rain proofed for the protection of your clubs. Most of these bags have anywhere from five to nine dividers for your clubs as well as additional pockets.

Features Of A Three Wheeled Golf Push Cart

I have been looking to purchase a manual three wheeled golf push cart. By manual, I mean that I have to push it and it is not using electricity. Can you give me some of the features of the three wheeled golf cart that manufactures are currently offering?

The manual golf cart is a golf push cart in which you literally push around the golf course. It is powered by you. The golf push carts that are now available are not the two-wheeled pull carts that your dad used to drag around the golf course. Currently the three wheeled push carts have great balance and stability. Pushing the cart in front of you is much more ergonomic and better on your body as opposed to pulling a cart behind you. Most manufacturers also allow you to adjust the height of the handle which allows you to be as comfortable as possible during your round of golf.

The manufactures have also created a new market know as golf push cart accessories. This accessories category includes items that will hold a water bottle so that you can stay properly hydrated during your round. Some manufactures also offer an attachment that will allow you to carry a sand bottle. This will allow you to take care of the golf course by placing sand in the divots that you make during your trip around the links. Many of the manufacturers also include an attachment that allows you to hold a scorecard and a pencil so you can keep your score and as well as any stats.

Depending on the type of golf push cart you are looking to purchase, the price points have a large variation. Some golf carts can be expensive. High quality electric golf carts will be the most expensive. Since the market for golf carts is so large, it is possible to find great deals on a wide selection of models. Several manufacturers must compete with each other, making better products and selling them for less than their competitors.

Everyone is looking for a great deal on a golf push cart. Before you buy the first cheap golf cart that you find, there are some things worth considering that may help you find the golf cart that will best fit your needs.

VGS Golf has customers in Nashville, Tennessee, Louisville, Kentucky, Ft. Wayne, Indiana, Miami, Florida, San Diego, California, Chicago, Illinois, Denver, Colorado, New York City, New York, Washington DC, Portland, Oregon, Dallas, TX, Columbia, South Carolina and Atlanta, Georgia.

Info On Handheld Golf GPS Systems

Can you give me some info on the handheld GPS golf units that are available?

A number of different options are available when it comes to handheld Golf GPS devices, such as the Izzo Swami 1500. They come in a variety of sizes and offer different features. Some features include keeping the user aware of the distance from targets while on the course, showing this length with one push of a button. The system shows the golfer any hazards or trees that are in the path of his or her drive. Certain systems may show hazards such as front, center, and back of the green, sand bunkers, water traps, lay-ups, and carries. For even easier access to the GPS information, there are some cell phones that can act as the handheld Golf GPS unit with the right program.

A competing technology to the handheld Golf GPS unit is the laser rangefinder or yardage finder. One advantage of the laser rangefinder is that it does not require any course data. A Golf GPS unit needs the information from that particular course loaded into the unit. A disadvantage of laser rangefinders, however, is the time needed to use it effectively. Many times, it takes some time to properly aim the yardage finder at the target. Additionally, you will need to “shoot” the target several times before the unit will lock in on the target and give you the proper information. A handheld golf GPS is a much easier and faster system to use.

For anyone that holds an interest in improving their golf score, a handheld Golf GPS unit, such as the Izzo Swami, is an item that should catch their interest, and people that love golf appreciate them. With the information provided by a handheld Golf GPS device, the strokes are almost guaranteed to fall from your game.

A Golf GPS Unit

Many of my friends have purchased a golf gps units. Can you give me some info on them and the differences between a gps golf unit and a range finder or yardage finder?

There are many benefits to playing the game with a golf GPS unit. With the information provided, one can know his or her exact distance to the green. This can improve the pace of the game by eliminating the need to step off distances from a yardage marker or using a yardage book for the course. A handheld golf GPS unit can also track golf balls that contain implanted trackers in them, making it impossible to lose another golf ball. It will not always be an easy retrieval, however, since deep water hazards do still exist.

A number of different options are available when it comes to handheld Golf GPS devices, such as the Izzo Swami 1500. They come in a variety of sizes and offer different features. Swiss Exercise Ball As A Golf Exercise Ball

A golf exercise ball, also known as a stability ball or a Swiss exercise ball, is an inflatable ball used during workouts as an alternative piece of exercise equipment. No matter what your personal goals may be at the gym, you can achieve them quickly and more efficiently substituting the Swiss exercise ball for the conventional exercise bench.

Proper Back Alignment
This piece of equipment is used in conjunction with physical rehabilitation programs to relieve back pain by strengthening and developing core body muscles. While in use, the Swiss exercise ball creates balance instability. As a result, your back will constantly maneuver itself to seek stability which will strengthen back muscles and properly align your spine.

Ultimate Abs
Because the ball requires your back muscles and abdominal muscles to work together, the exercises you would normally perform on the floor or work bench double in efficiency.

Stretching
Exercise styles such as Yoga and Pilates, focus on stretching your muscles which will, in turn, both tone and define them. Additionally, stretching your muscles will keep joints from tightening which can limit mobility at a later stage in life.

Core Stability
Core stability involves all of the muscles of the mid-section and provides you with the support necessary to properly complete activities from minor daily activities to more advanced activities.

Top 3 Reasons To Use a Golf Push Cart

Whether you are a beginner or a savvy pro, using a golf push cart can improve your game. Using this piece of equipment not only allows the golfer to enjoy the true nature and beauty of a golf course but it is also a fantastic way to get into shape.

Reason # 1: Know Your Golf Course
While using a golf push cart across the landscape, you are able to learn more about the course and gain insight as to what was behind the design strategy of the course. This knowledge can only be used to your advantage in the game. Walking with a three wheel golf cart allows you to gain an appreciation for the intricacies of the course that are not visible from a golf cart.

Reason #2: Shape It Up
Nay-sayers will state that walking with a golf push cart is not necessarily a good form of exercise because of the stop-and-go methods used throughout the course. This couldn't be further from the truth. Walking is the most fundamental form of all exercise programs and assuming 18 holes are played, this will equate to 45 minutes of aerobics. With this sort of statement it only makes sense that walking a golf course would be considered good for you.

Reason #3: Play Like a Pro
When you watch professional golfers play, they have the convenience of their caddy with them to assist in anything they may need. With the newest features that have been added to golf push carts, it's like having your very own caddy on wheels. Golf push carts nowadays have features such as holders for your scorecard, water bottle, umbrella, and cell phone. The evidence is clear; you will play better and feel better when you opt for a golf push cart rather than a traditional motorized cart.

Golf Bags - What Are The Differnces?

We often get asked about the differences between a cart golf bag, a carry golf bag or a staff bag. Here is a quick rundown:

The cart golf bag is somewhat smaller than the staff/tour bag. Despite this you still require the help of a caddie or a cart because this sort of bag is still larger than the travel/bag. You could infer from the name that the cart golf bag was primarily meant for use in a golf cart. They have a lesser number of pockets and are usually made from materials of a lighter composition.

The carry bag also known as a stand bag is a smaller bag designed for those who are naturally attracted by bags of such sizes, like the name implies they were basically designed for travel purposes and meant to be carried by the player. They can be used for other purposes as well considering the needs for compartmentalization and minimalism in our daily lives. Such bags usually come with enough space for a limited number golf clubs and space for other golf equipment which may be needed during the game such as balls and equipment.

The staff bag or tour bag is the largest selection of golf bags available. They are much larger that the travel/carry bag or the cart golf bag. The average staff/tour bag will house enough space for about 14 golf clubs and other equipment which may be required during a game. A lot of professional golfers tend to use these sorts of golf bags, but they don’t carry them due to the weight, they opt for help from their caddies instead. The amount of equipment that these golfers can carry is as much as they would like. In order to suit the tastes of their end-users such golf bags may come made in leather and other sorts of expensive material.

Golf Hitting Net - Big Mouth Hitting Net

Are you looking for a golf hitting net? If you are then the The Big Mouth by Izzo The Big Mouth golf hitting net from Izzo Golf may the answer for you. You can use it at home in the backyard, on a business trip or while at the in-laws house! This golf hitting net eliminates the hassle of setting up frame poles by using a hoop-like frame made of fiberglass. Simply toss The Big Mouth golf hitting net where you want it and the net will automatically spring to life. This will allow you to have your personal driving range with you anywhere.

When The Big Mouth golf hitting net is not in use, it folds down into a thirty-six inch flat disk that only weighs about fifteen pounds and stores practically anywhere. The Big Mouth expands from a three-foot disk to a seven by nine foot golf hitting net. This allows you to work on all of the golf clubs in your golf bag including some full swing drills such as the feet together drill.

The Big Mouth golf hitting net from Izzo Golf introduces a new type of woven netting. Due to the new "knotless" technology, the mesh is allowed to stretch and absorb the ball's force resulting in a net that is thirty percent stronger. In addition, you will have an adjustable chipping net that hangs in the middle of the Big Mouth's frame. The chipping net is suspended on four sides by adjustable chords which allow you to set the position of the chipping net to work on high lob shots or low bump and run shots.

Golf Fitness Program - Does Walking Matter?

David Fay on walking during a round of golf, "We strongly believe that walking is the most enjoyable way to play golf and that the use of carts is detrimental to the game. This negative trend needs to be stopped now before it becomes accepted that riding in a cart is the way to play golf."

Walking is the most fundamental part of all golf exercise programs. With this in mind, it makes sense that walking a golf course with a push cart instead of riding in a golf cart would help you to achieve your programs goals. Over the years, there has been much discussion on whether the start and stopping that happens during a round of golf and not all of it has been positive. These people will argue that even with using a push cart, this exercise is not beneficial to your golf even with using a push cart, this exercise is not beneficial to your golf exercise program.

These people must hang out in their lab coats all day and never leave the office or lab. Let's think about this for just a second. In walking an eighteen whole round of golf, you basically are taking a 4-5 mile walk. Hmmm. Not beneficial to a golf exercise program, huh? Keep in mind that most golf courses have many elevation changes up and down and you have extra weight on your back if you choose to carry your golf clubs. The Web site WalkingGolf.com states, "According to Golf Science International, researcher Gi Magnusson calculates that four hours of playing golf (walking) is comparable to a 45-minute fitness class."

Those of you who have walked eighteen holes before know that the round of golf is a different experience than when you ride from shot to shot. Not to sound funny but walking a course gets you closer to the golf course. Not only do I realize the golf exercise benefits of walking a golf course but I have also found that I am able to learn more about a golf course that I have walked as opposed to those that I ride. Walking with a push cart allows you to gain an appreciation for the nuances of a golf course that just are not visible from a golf cart. This is an advantage if this happens prior to a tournament round and it adds to my golf exercise program.

Golf Practice Net

If you are looking to become a better golfer, purchasing a golf practice net is an excellent decision. These nets give you the opportunity to focus intensely on your swing in a variety of settings, but do so in your own back yard rather than having to wait until you hit the course to address your technique. Of course, as with any piece of practice equipment, nets come in a variety of options. The model (or models) you select depend on your own goals for your technique.

The largest practice net style is intended to help you practice your drives. These nets are by necessity larger than other nets, as they must catch balls that are hit to be hard and high. Most have a larger opening to allow for slight variation while still catching the ball. These type of hitting nets are also typically constructed of a stronger mesh since the ball is hit with such force. A driving net should easily fold into a much smaller size for easy storage and transportation when not in use.

On the small side of things, a chipping net (also known as a chipping pocket) is another option for a golf practice net. This is a smaller net, often round, that faces up so as to catch chips and lobs on their way down. These help you practice your precision and become more comfortable with your wedges.

But because modern golf equipment has come so far, you can even get a golf practice net that serves both purposes. Some large nets come with smaller inserts so you can switch between drivers and wedges. Some nets are even professionally designed to be able to handle all shots, from wedges to drivers and everything in between. The practice net you select depends entirely on your preference and goals. Whether you want to improve your chipping or driving, or even both, there is a net for you.

Push Carts - The Benefits

Everyone knows that walking is the most fundamental of all exercise programs. So it makes sense that walking a golf course with a push cart would be considered good for you. This simply has not always been the case though. Due to the start and stop that happens during the round, many have argued that walking with a golf push cart is not beneficial to your exercise program. I would suggest that these people have never tried to walk eighteen holes in less than four hours.

As David Fay of the USGA has written, "We strongly believe that walking is the most enjoyable way to play golf and that the use of carts is detrimental to the game. This negative trend needs to be stopped now before it becomes accepted that riding in a cart is the way to play golf."

Not to sound funny but walking a course gets you closer to the golf course. It is a totally different experience using a push cart across the terrain as opposed to hopping in a regular golf cart. I have found that I am able to learn more about a golf course that I have walked as opposed to those that I ride. Walking with a push cart allows you to gain an appreciation for the nuances of a golf course that just are not visible from a golf cart.

In just the last few years, golf push carts have been revitalized. As the baby boomers are retiring and trying to stay in shape, using a push cart is much easier for them than trying to pull a pull cart or lug their golf bag around the golf course. The new walking golf carts are not your dad’s old aluminum tripod with the hard plastic wheels on it. Today’s golf push carts are high tech golfing ensemble statements.

The Difference Between Golf Bags

Perhaps the most basic golf equipment (after the clubs and balls themselves) is the golf bag. These bags come in a variety of styles with a wide range of features. Ultimately, the bag you choose comes down to personal preference, but there are some other elements to keep in mind. Whether you walk or drive will affect the bag you choose, as well as whether you prefer to keep a small amount or large amount of gear with you on the course. Golf bags have come a long way even in the past decade, so before you buy, especially if it has been awhile, take a moment to look at the options available to you in making your decision.

The simplest style of golf bag is the stand carry bag. This type of bag is designed to be carried over one or both shoulders as you travel between holes on foot. Because it is carried, the stand carry bag is generally lighter and has a simplistic design. It will have only the necessary pockets to reduce weight. Modern stand carry bags have high quality padded shoulder straps to reduce strain on your back. They also have fold out legs that support the bag as you play each hole.
The other type of golf bag is the cart bag. This style is, of course, intended for use with a golf cart. It is generally larger and has more pockets and would be quite a bit more difficult to carry than the stand carry bag. The golf cart bag is durable and protective so that your clubs are safe even if the cart jostles.

No matter which type of bag you choose, you will also be able to select between different design styles and colors. Choose a color and design that appeals to you, that you think expresses you as a golfer, and that you will enjoy brining with you on the course. See you on the links!

Where Should I Concentrate My Golf Excercise?

You walk into your local health club and wonder "Where should I concentrate my golf exercises?" Some people are so intimidated by all the muscle-heads walking around they sometimes just turn around and walk out of the gym! If you are strong enough mentally to stay what are you supposed to work on? Should you run/walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes? Should you push out a couple sets of bench presses? The answer to these questions really are answered with your body and your current golf swing.

We now know better than ever what is required of the body to produce a proper golf swing due to the newer video cameras and other golf swing technology now available. Given this new information, we can develop what the best exercises for your golf swing. This will improve your golf game quicker than ever before!

With the new golf swing technology, we have learned that the entire body must move through certain ranges of motion to perform an effective golf swing. If your body is not able to move through the required ranges of motion of the golf swing, the golf swing will produce a shot that is not desirable. Flexibility exercises that work the muscles used during the golf swing are good for all golfers. This means that flexibility exercises should be on the top of your list.

To produce a desirable golf shot, you must be balanced at address, the top of your golf swing, through impact as well as during your finish position. What is balance? Balance is the ability to control your body through a specific movement pattern or your golf swing. In relation to your body, balance has to do with the connection between your nerves and muscles. As a result of messages sent from your brain, your nervous system tells your muscles how to move to maintain the body's balance. Balance exercises train both the nervous system and muscular system to create a more efficient golf swing. There are many golf swing aids that will help you with your balance during your golf swing. A weighted club such as The Golfgym Club 38 or The Golfgym Club 28 will help you build muscle as well as a repeatable swing.

Do you really need a club fitting?

Do you really need a club fitting before you buy a new set of irons or a new driver? I would highly suggest it! All of the major golf club companies have developed many tools to tweak each club just to your specific golf swing needs. Callaway Golf has devloped the "Quick Fit" system which allows a qualified club fitter to interchange shafts and clubheads literally within seconds. This allows the fitter to have many more combinations to fit the golfer as opposed to ordering every combination as a demo which is not cost effective for the fitter.
