Golf Equipment

I am a beginning golfer. I am reading about having your golf equipment custom fit to you and your swing. Since I am shooting 100 to 110 and just getting started, do I need to be custom fit for my golf equipment? Will it really help?

As we are promoters of the game of golf, we will answer that with the answer, it depends. If you are happy with shooting those scores and you enjoy the game, keep using the clubs that you have. If you want to lower your scores then properly fit clubs along with some newer technology could help you do just that. We say this as most beginners start with used clubs.

The rules of golf state that you can carry up to 14 clubs. Notice that this reads up to 14 clubs. If you are a beginner or a higher handicapper and you are purchasing new golf equipment you may not need to carry all 14 clubs. Most manufacturers will now price their clubs individually. This allows you to pick and choose the clubs that you currently need and can add other clubs as you improve.

No matter your skill level, you really do need to focus on your putter and wedges. You will want to find golf equipment that you like to look at when you are addressing the golf ball. If you do not like what you are looking at, it will be more difficult for you to hit a good shot.

If you are playing the game of golf for score, playing golf without the right golf equipment can be very frustrating. With the available club fitters and options from the manufacturers, there is simply no reason to put yourself through that. Why would not you make it as easy on yourself as possible?

Club Fittings Houston

As the beginning of the season is here, many golfers are looking for a club fitting. These golfers can be looking for a new driver, set of irons, new wedges or a new putter to take their golf game to the next level.

The question then becomes "How do I know that I am going to receive a proper club fitting?" Here are a couple of questions that you need to as prior to your scheduled appointment in order to help you find your answer.

Is the professional certified by a major manufacturer to fit their clubs?
All qualified club fitters go through training from a manufacturer. Many times the education is held a couple of times a year locally and your club fitter should be able to recite the last education that they received.

How experienced is the PGA Professional?
Do not be afraid to ask the club fitter how many club fittings that they do. The more club fittings that they do, obviously the more knowledge and experience that they have been able to gain. In addition, typically these fitters will have the most recent information on all of the available equipment.

Will I be fit outdoors to see the entire ball flight?
Being able to see the entire ball flight is vitally important to find the best fit for you. Ideally we would want to be fit outdoors so that you can compare launch monitor numbers as well as see the ball flight. Sometimes when you are fit indoors the launch monitor may have been manipulated to show better numbers.

What will the session cost?
This price will vary depending on the area of the country that you are in as well as the experience of the club fitter. The saying that you get what you pay for has never rang truer. Many of the large store retailers will offer a free club fitting with a purchase. Then they send out the high school or college student to give you the fitting. With what you are going to invest for the club(s), the fitting will more than likely will not even add 10% to the total purchase price.

VGS Golf performs Houston club fittings for players from all over Houston, Texas including Spring, The Woodlands, Conroe, Tomball, The Heights, Katy, Kingwood, Magnolia, Cypress, Gleannloch Farms, Rice Village, Mid Town, Greenspoint and all over Metro Houston.

What To Know Before You Buy A Launch Monitor

Many golfers have created their own practice stations at home or created a portable on to take to the course with them. Personal launch monitors are becoming reasonably priced and many golfers have added launch monitors to their bag of toys. Here are some tips to help you find the right launch monitor for you:

1. Evaluate the total cost.
When you are looking at purchasing a larger golf swing monitor, what else are you going to need to make it operate properly? Some launch monitors require to be connected to a computer or a lap top. You may need more computer power (memory, etc.) than you currently have available to you on your current computer. You will also want to make sure of all of the cords that need to be purchased in order properly connect the unit.

2. Is the launch monitor technology leading edge or obsolete?
May sound funny to ask this type of question but think about your computer. It seems like as soon as you purchase it, something is out there bigger and better. You will need to determine what is best for you and your situation. If you are purchasing a personal launch monitor, then this may be fine. If you are looking to use the unit at a golf academy then you will want to be as up to date as possible.

3. What is the warranty?
As you know, the available warranty may vary quite a lot from manufacturer to manufacturer. Make sure that you know exactly what is covered and what is not. Again, you want to find other users that have had to use the warranty and find out how easy or difficult the manufacturer made the process.

4. Contact the company’s customer service department.
The manufacturer should make their customer service number readily available. You will want to determine the responsiveness of the support team as well as how wiling they are to help you with your questions. In addition, find out about the hours that the support team is available on the weekends as well as any hidden charges such as weekend support charges for your launch monitor.

3 Ways To Improve Your Golf Game

I have played golf for many years. As I guess most other golfers, I would really like to improve this year. I am a 16 handicap and have been there, good or bad, for years. Can you suggest a couple of things that I could do this golf season to make it different?

1. Re-learn the fundamentals – There are many ways to learn how to play golf that do not break the bank. No matter what level you learn to play the game, you will always go back to the fundamentals when your golf swing gets out of whack. You can find a golf instruction book written by a top instructor or a golf instruction DVD to improve your game. If you are just starting to play golf, then a clinic would be a great way to be introduced to the game.

2. Get a club fitting – Having a set of clubs that fit you specifically is very important. This is usually included in the price of a new set of golf clubs. It is very important to find a certified club fitter who fits on a regular basis. Do not be scared or intimidated to ask how often they fit someone to a set of golf clubs and what are their qualifications are to fit you. Finding a good and qualified club fitter can make the game much easier and much more enjoyable for you!

3. Improve your flexibility – This is for all golfers no matter what your age currently is. Everybody wants to hit it farther and straighter. This can simply be achieved by beginning a golf flexibility program. It does not need to take much time but proper flexibility is crucial to being able to perform at your highest level. Again, this does not need to be an expensive affair. There are many golf fitness books or golf fitness DVDs by top fitness professionals that can lay out a stretching program for you.

VGS Golf has customers in Frankfort, Indiana, Columbus, Ohio, Detroit, Michigan, Nashville, Tennessee, Madison, Wisconsin, Bridgeport, CT, Raleigh, North Carolina, Jacksonville, Florida, Sugarland, TX, Athens, Georgia, Columbia, South Carolina and Richmond, Virginia.

How Do I Find A Club Fitter?

Every year, during the winter and early spring, we start to get asked many questions about golf club fittings as many golfer are getting ready to update their set of golf clubs. So we are going to answer the question: How do I find a qualified club fitter?

I would first ask you about how you would go about finding other professionals like doctors, dentists, etc.? Ask other fellow golfers, your friends and co-workers about experiences they had had good or bad. Also contact local golf shops and ask to speak to a qualified fitter. Ask him or her how the process of the club fitting will go and make sure you are comfortable with the professional. Once you have found your golf club fitter, it is important that you armed with the proper questions to ask your fitter. In addition, remember the fitter is there to help you so do not be afraid to ask any question you might have. The proper questions to ask prior to or during your fitting are as follows:

· Is the professional certified by a major manufacturer to fit their clubs?
· How experienced is the PGA Professional?
· Will I be fit outdoors to see the entire ball flight?
· Does the PGA Professional have a fitting cart or multiple fitting carts with what you are looking for (Mens, Ladies, steel, graphite, right-handed, left-handed clubs) available?
· What will the session cost?
· If I purchase the clubs from you, will the cost of the club fitting be put towards the purchase?
· Will a launch monitor be used during the session?
· How the professional came to the conclusion of your specs? Make sure you understand how the conclusion is achieved and make sure you understand the logic.

Create Revenues With A Zelocity Golf Launch Monitor

As economic times are making the dollars that the average American family has to spend fewer and fewer, learn how to use a Zelocity golf launch monitor to improve the revenues at your driving range, golf course or country club. Below are reasons how the Zelocity PureFlight and PureLaunch models can help you increase your facilities revenues.

1. Rent out the Zelocity driver monitor for corporate events or use it as an amenity to a golf tournament. This will work two fold. First you will be providing an experience that not many others do for a golf tournament or a corporate event. Second, again, your golf club sales will increase as the players see the hard data in front of them. Third, the teaching revenues administering the corporate event or tournament will be able to grow their lesson business from this type of exposure.

2. Use a golf launch monitor to validate the equipment choices that you are recommending to your customers, students or members. Show them the hard data of what they are swinging now and what the new piece of equipment can do for them and watch your driving range, golf course or country club’s golf club sales increase.

3. Using a golf launch monitor, you are able to give your student a baseline skill assessment to quantify where the student is beginning. This will allow you and your student to track the improvements in their golf swing. With this data, you can promote yourself and your teaching by showing them how the information that you gave them is improving their golf scores.

4. You will now be able to offer a service that not many golf professionals offer in that you can “Gap” your students clubs. They will no longer have to wonder what to hit from 150 yards. This would be a lesson session resulting in more teaching income for you.

5. With the hard data from a golf launch monitor, you have a measurement tool to show them their progress and where they could still use some more work (in another lesson, of course) In addition, you or your students can use the PureFlight for on-course playing lessons and to better understand course management.

VGS Golf & Country Club Supply has customers throughout the US such as in Birmingham, Alabama, Los Angeles, California, Indianapolis, Indiana, Burbank, California, Phoenix, Arizona, Clearwater, Florida, Atlanta, Georgia, Charlotte, North Carolina, Washington DC, Richmond, Virginia, Boston, MA, Stuart, Florida, Lexington, Kentucky, Knoxville, Tennessee, Las Vegas, Nevada, Jacksonville, Florida, Huntsville, Alabama, Nashville, Tennessee, Miami, Florida, Orlando, Florida, El Paso, Texas, Denver, Colorado, Long Beach, California, Cincinnati, Ohio, San Antonio, Texas, Kansas City, Missouri, New York, New York, San Diego, California and Chicago, Illinois.

Club Fitting - Is It About To Change?

Do you want even more club fitting options to customize your golf clubs? The USGA has granted equipment manufacturers the ability to perhaps sell golf clubs with more adjustable parts. Currently, Callaway and Taylor Made have the market covered with patents on their interlocking shaft/head sysytems. This opportunity would start as early as 2008 with USGA approval of each product on a case-by-case basis.

What does this mean for the average golfer? It could open the door for some major club companies to begin selling their club fitting system componets straight to consumers. In theory, the average golfer could buy multiple golf club shafts or golf club heads to create their own combinations depending on conditions or just because they want to. You could change a shaft for performance or so the color would match your outfit!

Keep your eyes open in 2008 for this trend and see if this trend catches! If you would like to read free articles on how to find a qualified custom club fitter in your area or general club fitting articles.....Read Here

Do you really need a club fitting?

Do you really need a club fitting before you buy a new set of irons or a new driver? I would highly suggest it! All of the major golf club companies have developed many tools to tweak each club just to your specific golf swing needs. Callaway Golf has devloped the "Quick Fit" system which allows a qualified club fitter to interchange shafts and clubheads literally within seconds. This allows the fitter to have many more combinations to fit the golfer as opposed to ordering every combination as a demo which is not cost effective for the fitter.
