Driving Range

I have what is probably a silly question. I am a very new golfer and I am wonder what exactly is a driving range and how should I go about using it?

If you are wondering it, others are probably doing the same. Thank you for the question.

Basically, a golf driving range is land set aside to practice your full golf swing as well as half shots while hitting real golf balls. You do not have to take your own golf balls every time you visit a driving range. Normally, the club or the course provides the balls to be used in practicing session. You can purchase them at the facility or with some country clubs, the range balls are included in the membership fee.

You do not have to feel uncomfortable while on the driving range, as there will be many targets available and you do not need to tell anyone where you are aiming! You can use the range to warm up prior to your round or you can have a specific practice session.

If you are warming up prior to your round on the driving range, you should be just trying to stretch your muscles. This is very true of the first few balls hit. Always start by hitting short shots with a wedge or nine-iron. This way you will start small, get some rhythm and protect yourself from injury.

If you are going to the driving range to have a specific practice session, have a plan. You should set up alignment tools and have any practice aids ready to go. It is easy to let your mind wonder while you hit a couple of shots that do not meet your standards. However you will need to remember, golf is a process and trying a new idea on every different swing.
